HDMI all the way.
Unless it is really defective even the cheap $15 cable will be ok: the HDMI signal is digital, so it's much less sensible than analog signals to the quality of materials and soldering. You only start losing bits along the cable if it is of really bad quality and extremely long.
The only con of a cheap cable is that it might be more short lived if you keep manipulating it. But since you can buy about 5 of them for the cost of a Monster cable, the choice is obvious. I doubt you'll manage to break all 5 :)
