It's not an end-of-days pandemic that kills everyone. There are 600+ cases in the USA, and 0 deaths of Americans. Any respectable country (ie, first world) will easily be able to contain and combat this flu. Because thats what it is: flu.

If this was a more easily spread SARS, we may have a problem. But all this is, is a different flu strain. Even under worst-case scenarios, where the flu is not contained for 2 years...We may have 300 million deaths. That's hardly a dent in the world population.

Yeah, there is no real end of days thing here with the flu.  What happens when a new flu bug is introduced to humans, the result is the sick individual comes down with pnuemonia.  The severity of the phuemonia is what results in death, so typically the only people that die are ill, elderly or young.
