Now, I am not sure that I fully understand what you are saying. As long as a human being (every human being) can better the species through reproduction, social interaction and/or enjoying technology he or she would be living a meaningful life? Life means to reproduce, interact socially and enjoy technological achievements? So without reproduction, social interaction or the technological achievements life means nothing? Is that what you are saying? Please, correct me if I got it all wrong. |
I think the meaning of life is the same for everyone (and every living thing for that matter), but people have personal desires (religion, entertainment, whatnot) that they confuse as being the meaning of their lives.
Unlike other animals, humans dont have to reproduce to improve our species. Without reproducing, a squrriel doenst help his species out at all. But a human who doesnt reproduce can invent technology, interact socially, and otherwise be a contributive member of society and lead a meaningful life.
Reproduction is still important though. If humans stopped reproducing then we would die out and everything we have done would be for nothing.
