It will probably be generally accepted amogst the remaining hard-core Sony fans that the Wii has outsold the PS3 for now, but it'll never "win" due to "minigames ruining gaming", and the PS3 will be victorious in the end due to its 10 year life-span, martian invasion, or some similarly likely scenario.

I really believe the 10 year life span is unlikely with the PS3 due to its costs.  The PSX and PS2 cost less than half of the PS3's cost at their original launches, and it was their cost reduction relative to their original cost which allowed them success when their successor was released.  I believe the PS3 will not get sufficient cost reduction when the PS4 is released to warranty continuing its lifespan.
