As in death rate? The black death is a totally different thing than this.
Does a new strain of influenza have the chance getting a death rate up there with the black plague? Yes
Does this current spread of H1N1 seem as deadly as the spanish flu/black death/etc.? Doesn't appear to be.
Should we be concerned about the spread? Yes, it very easily could mutate or have a risk of antigenic shift creating a deadly strain well adapted to humans. (i.e. this strain jumps back to pigs/birds and takes on characteristics of a deadly flu virus)
