You're more powerful. Nobody is as concerned with what happens in a country with less influence. 2. You claim to be a beacon of justice and democracy and sometimes there is a level of hypocrisy. 3. You're part of the West, the rest of the Western world is more likely to judge you because you're part of it. Its not necessarily fair that you garner more criticism than countries with rights records that are clearly far worse, but because of those three reasons you do. |
The only problem i have with the criticism of the US is that people often never look at some of their own countries having there own problems.
Like when people get on the US for racism and sexism... there are first world countries in western europe that are worse off... and yet nobody even brings up said problems.
Or when the US doesn't have a progressive enough tax system... when its' more progressive then other nations.
