Peter Molyneux, the Stamper bros, Will Wright, the Houser Bros, Yokoi, Shinji, Sid Meier are all great as well but no one beats Shiggy.

Lylat Wars was a real masterpiece in my book, which I know he was heavily involved with. What he's done for racers as a whole is impressive looking at the variety:
Mario Kart (fun, original, wacky),
F-zero (pure speed and adrenaline),
Waverace 64 (Realism with impressive water physics).

He may not have made a Gran Turismo, but if you take these three games/franchises together and look at the variety he's given to a simple genre like "racing" then his genius holds up on those grounds alone. Throw into that the fact that the Wii and it's main titles were basically his brainchild and you've got an uncontestable winner.

I also think he deserves a decent amount of credit for making Metroid Prime the sublime game that he was - it was his idea to make it first-person, I believe, which many people doubted but most would admit now was a winning strategy for the atmosphere of the game.

I hear Nintendogs is a really well-made sim, though I haven't played it myself... and I've just started playing Pikmin2 and I think it's really fresh and deserves all the praise it gets.

Oh yeah and he also created the best games of all time, SMB, SMB3, SMW, SM64, SMG, Link to the past, Ocarina of time - but with everything I've already said above, Mario and Zelda could almost be considered a side note.

That's how untouchable Miyamoto is.
