I do not believe the PS3 will be Sony's last console. If it was I would say the same thing about the Gamecube since it failed to make numbers like the PS2 or the Xbox of last generation or the N64 against the original Playstation. But look Microsoft and Nintendo are still in the gaming business.
Sony is here to stay. They make awesome hardware and their first-party software has been pretty weak but the software that is promised in the coming months is well worth it.
So all in all, Sony isn't going anywhere no time soon. People need to realize that the PS3 isn't a huge mistaken, just a step backwards on Sony's part. Sort of like how the automotive industry is facing with American automakers failing to follow or catch up with how the Japanese with hybrids.
