I'm not a psychologist, biologist, or evolutionary psychologist.
However I think in most cultures throughout history, men were expected and praised to reproduce and have a ton of babies (have babies at home, in a foreign country during conquest, etc). Women were expected to be faithful to their husbands, stay at their home, and care for the child instead of making more babies of their own.
