I mean it is capitalism, plain and simple. If someone can provide me with a superior service at a reasonable price, I will pay for it. If I can get something for free that is better than what I would have to pay for it, why should I pay for it? Its not logical.

Why do you think I buy so many Blu-Rays?  Even the illegal infrastructure isn't there to support HD piracy with quick speeds, storage capacity, and compatability between devices.  I cannot get the quality I want for free.  Therefore, I am willing to pay money for it.  Its really quite simple.  Offer me a superior service and I will pay for it.  Offer me an inferior service and I won't.

Because you are stealing.

It’s a lot easier for me to walk into a grocery store and just take some food, then it is to wait in line, get out my credit card or cash, talk to the checkout lady, and so on.

Are you saying that it’s the requirement of the grocery store to make it as convenient for me to buy my food as it is to shoplift, otherwise shoplifting is acceptable?

In essence yes.  If stealing your entire grocery list was easier than just purchasing it...people probably would continue to steal. It's not.  So it's not worth the trouble.

Quite honestly,  I could careless about the plight of the Music / Movie / Games industries.

First of all,  they need to fix their own leaky ships.  The people that distribute the movies, games, music months or weeks prior to release are coming from inside their buildings.

Second of all,  I'm really not crying the blues for an industry that charges outrageous prices (For what you get) on a product that costs fractions of a penny to produce and almost anyone in the industry in that position is making millions upon millions of dollars.   Personally,  I believe entertainers, musicians, etc  make incredibly too much.  This is societies way of taking retribution and balancing out the scales.  (Assuming that piracy is really eating into their bottom lines, which in many cases I don't believe for a second).

Third of all,  Until they can provide a service or medium that actually is quality...Why should anyone want to pay for that?  I'm not overly concerned with some people who make millions to begin with by doing very little but raking their customers over the coals.

Then don't consume it. Nothing says you need to listen to a song, play a game, or watch a movie.

Stealing entertainment, and then justifying it as ok, is crazy my friend.

It all depends on your definition of stealing.  Is copying a file stealing?    Can you really prevent copying of files?  Tons of people copy VHS tapes, TV Programs, etc.

For example, if you have ever been to Washington DC and saw the Constitution.  Have you ever saw some of the replicas?  Are people who sell replicated Constitutions stealing or copying?   There is a difference.

If I created a machine that could make perfect copies of items....Would I be stealing these items or just making copies?
