It's back up. Yo ho ho and a 500 TB drive!

1. It's not about piracy. It's about sharing. If I have a computer and a web connection and want to share stuff on my computer, I should have the right to do so. If I wanted to charge money for sharing stuff I didn't create -- that would be theft, yes. But keep it free, and there's no violation. Unless you want to criminalize all libraries (borrowing books without paying? sacrilege!), or watching TV at a friend's place (consuming media without paying? piracy!), or using any word, concept or idea invented by anyone else in human history ("pay-per-verb"). Which the corporate monopolies would happily do, if they could get away with it.

2. The needs of the 80% of the planet just entering the digital age, who depend on free torrents for media, news, broadcasts and information, outweigh the greed of the tiny numbers of Wall Street elites and corporate media moguls.

3. Scapegoating pirates is the last refuge of failed media business models, just as xenophobia is the last refuge of failed governments. Build long-term franchises, respect the fan community, respect the commons and fans will buy legal copies of your games and media.
