But money does not always mean profit.

If I am a game developer, and I want to make 15% profit on each game, I have to first figure out how much money I expect to make off that game.

It's it's 10 million dollars, I can spend 8.5 million to make the game. If I now expect piracy to take 30% of my expected revenue, then I can only spend 5.95 million to make the game.

In order to make that 15% profit, I have to sell the game at the same cost I was going to sell it anyway, so for the people buying the game, they get less of a game for the same price.

For those stealing the game, they get less of a game as well.

I would not be against putting a time limit on intellectual property personally. You come up with a game/song/movie/book/whatever, and you have the rights to it for some set number of years. After that, it's public domain.

But until a law like that passes, it's just stealing.
