Remember everyone - Nintendo make *most* of their money from software releases, not hardware sales. If they released Super Paper Mario on a week with 40k Wii units available - it would be a disaster.
I think you'll start to see this strategy around the world. Cut back on hardware shipments (gradually), save them up - then release a massive number when a big title comes out. This way people who want the game (but don't have a Wii) have a better chance of getting one. Just in case most people who picked up a Wii just for Wii Sports aren't interested in anything else ;)
