| naznatips said: BTW, the bottom line about Halo 3: It's fun. That's all that really matters. Games should be fun, and it delivers on this in every way. That's absolutely true. If you like online multiplayer, then that fun will last indefinitely. I just hate the idea of the perfect score. There is no such thing as a perfect game. |
I never understood this line of thinking. Ranking a game out of 10 already doesn't have enough granularity. What's the point in having the 10 score if nothing can achieve it? you've just wasted a ranking. And now you can't tell the difference between a game that would have been 9 (ie, a fantastically fun game with just a few annoying flaws or glaring omissions) and 10 (a game so good you don't even notice the flaws that it has)
No one is claiming that a game is perfect just because they gave it a 10/10. They're just saying that it's lots better than a game worth 9/10. If your scoring system is such that a 10/10 is impossible, then your scoring system is broken, you're wasting a whole score level.
Of course, if you were to say that 10/10s were too freely handed out, then yes I would agree with you. But to say that no game deserves a 10/10 is just ridiculous.
