If Microsoft Beats Nintendo What Happens to J gaming? Why Square is Smart.

MS Won't beat Nintendo, period. 360 is currently the cheapest console and is still being outsold by the Wii by a large margin.

I don't get how some of you tend to overlook the things that are NOT going well for MS.

Their move to $199 was a desperate and premature move. Before the price drop, they were already over a $100 cheaper than PS3 and were being outsold by it on a weekly basis(quite embarrassing). Now the 360 is HALF THE PRICE of PS3 and barely outsells it on a weekly basis(also embarrassing).

Why do you think MS's gaming division is back to posting losses??? Because they are losing money on the $199 model. No console should be losing money 3.5 years after launch. It seems that their strategy is to keep dropping the price as low as they have to just to claim that they're outselling PS3. When PS3 drops to $299, MS will have to either drop the price and incur more losses or be outsold by PS3.


And I'm sorry, but what Square is doing is idiotic to say the least. They're taking the moneyhats from MS and rushing JRPG's through development. Infinite Undiscovery and Last Remnant both got poor reviews and had poor sales. Star Ocean 4 had good reviews and decent sales. This is a huge step down from a company known for making AAA JRPG's that sell several million copies each.

And just read all the posts from Square fans about what they think about the company these days. Square is rapidly losing dignity with their fans and that will hurt them in the long run.
