I think you could probably do it on PS3 if they nixed the split-screen, like they did for Unreal Tournament 3, but nixing the split-screen is like taking the multiplayer out of Halo or CoD, or perks/vehicles....the game would cease to be fully-featured.
That's really the great thing about Halo, Gears and recently Call of Duty, they cater to every one, they all have split-screen deathmatch, they all have split-screen co-op (as well as online for both), so you know, even when the graphics are insane, you can always get a buddy and second controller and the game will look and run identically.
That's really a big problem with the PS3, split-screen is basically ignored because of development issues and sometimes worse, Killzone 2 for instance, bad enough it had no local multiplayer, but the fact that a game, 4 years in development, squad based first person shooter and it doesn't have online co-op? What the hell were they thinking?
Onto GoW, Resident Evil 5 came closests, graphically it's better, but technically it's inferior, plus they downgraded the PS3 version so...that's just further supportive of the technical sacrifices Epic would have to make.
It's hard to take efforts like MGS4 and uncharted 1 seriously when neither match the basic technical criteria of Gears of War 1, let alone Gears of War 2. Still it looks like uncharted 2 has multiplayer, so split-screen is a given, otherwise Naughty Dog would be acknowledging Resident Evil 5 and Gears 1/2 as technically superior games. |
are your saying MGS4 should have offline multiplayer and co-op?
