In answer to the original question:
Sony does of course want to succeed.
But the obvious definition of success involves them doing something that they have not been ready to do.. drop the price.
and in this regard, No- Sony does not want to "succeed" YET.
they will succeed when they are ready. Hopefully after E3, coupled with a winter release surprise that is GT5
