PS2 is in it's ninth year yet the support continues, cannot help but laugh at those whom do NOT think Sony are serious about the "10 year" plan.

Such an old and forcible argument, PS1PS2 10 years life-span automatically makes PS3 10 year plan possible >_>

Oh, maybe, Sony are serious about 10 year plan, but this doesn't make 10 year plan serious. If software sales are good enough in next 8 years for PS3, then yes, otherwise no. Simple as that. Not going to insist that software sales of PS3 are going to decline in 2011-2012, but from this point in time it seems that's most likely going to happen.

If somehow PS3 will survive in 10 years from release date, Wii could be evergreen in all 20 years.

This. Every console maker would love for their console to thrive for 10 or more years, but it comes down to the consumers. The PSX and PS2's long lives were products of their success, not causes of.

So the PS3 certainly could follow in their footsteps, but it's not really up to Sony. Well they certainly would be sabotaging themselves if they stopped releasing games. However, they need strong sales for many years to come, and that's largely out of their hands(thanks to outside competition).
