This is my biggest beef with the iPhone as well. Now if you only use it as a phone, browser, and local video/music viewer it should be more than enough to get most people through the day. But if you add in gamings the sucker gets eaten up. For instance Hero of Sparta, which is one of the best looking games takes about 3.5 hours to go from 100% to 10%. Of course there are ways to get a bit more out of it like disabling wifi/3G/EDGE and lowering the brightness. But people should not be expected to do that just to be able to get a reasonable play time out of it. If nothing else battery life alone will keep the iPhone in the casual only crowd. Of course Apple could always change that.
