Nah the driver does matter, go back to the days of Ayrton Senna, he would win consistantly with a slower car due to his awesomely late breaking and handling the car superbly out of the corners. he'd beat cars with more horsepower and paddle gear shifters while he had to take his hand off the wheel to change gears with a stick. Hell one race he was on slicks while Prost was on full wets in the rain and Senna was still lapping 1 second a lap quicker than Prost. There just aren't any drivers as good as him any more..

That's physically (i would like to spell that fisicly, and not waste a minute to look up the correct phorm in the net, but then people would bash me) impossible.
Refference or GTFO.
Allow me to elaborate: Rain races are tricky especially if the track is not completely wet, for example if it just started to rain, or if it stopped a while ago. Remember that two races ago, Timo Glock was 8 seconds faster than enyone else because he choose intermidiate rain tires, while everyone was on extreme rain tires, and the track wasn't wet enough. So I reckon that when Senna seamed to go faster on slicks, than Prost on extremes (full wets), in rain, that rain was not really on, or was recently off, and the track was dry enough for slicks, while Prost didn't change yet (due to him not being as good in wet conditions as Senna, is a strong possibility).
Anyway, in rain, cars don't really mather. Drivers do. Look at Trulli from the last race for an elocvent antiexample. Raikonnen too.
