Everytime at night, when I look a "Thriller", I hate my LCD. Without Lights in the room, I have the choice between, black on black, or grey in grey. Contrast are just awful without any ambiance light (now I now why Philips does Ambilight).
The now advertised contrasts of 20.000:1 are just dynamic contrasts, only valuable between the darkest and lightest part in one screen, but not at neighboring pixels and that is were the big problem is. Contrasts are regulated via the backlight, to get the same quality as plasma, you need for every Pixel a separate backlight.
Software is like Sex, it is better when it is free!
