Want to know why it was hated? The REAL REASON?
Simple, they released a half ass GTA.
Graphics, no one cared about graphics in GTA, sure it's great and all but it seems that's all they did with a good physics engine. Story was good personally but won't appeal to everyone(same for every GTA), and the biggest problem... Amount of stuff to do. Like what the fuck.
Every GTA added more to do, san andreas being the biggest leap, you could now work out, etc etc etc etc etc. GTA4 they took that all away, made world much smaller, and it's not varied like before. GTA was about variety, GTA4 you have city... city... and more city. San Andreas had a bunch of towns, huge forests, 3 huge cities, a huge fucking mountain etc etc etc.
It was hated because they released a half ass GTA, GTA5 better be different.
