That's an odd picture. One man is holding the cards as if he were playing, while the others are doing something completely else.

Also, if you look at the paper, that's solid text (not collumns) so he clearly isn't writing down the scores of the game.

So at least one person is doing something else than playing, which leads to me believing that they're not actually playing a card game. They seem to be discussing something involving cards, or developing a game, rather than actually playing it.

There's something peculiar about that picture either way.
