The best reason I can give you?

Beyond all the fan boy garbage. Kill Zone 2, Resistance 2, Warhawk, Uncharted, God of War III and a whole host of other games will keep you busy after you buy a PS3. It's true that to some, many of these games aren't AS good as Gears or Halo but generally speaking they are great games.

The PS3 provides you a better branch for different game types to broaden your horizons beyond shooters but still provides you quality shooters as well.

And worst case scenario? Your PS3 is a Blu-Ray player (And a good one at that).

Kill Zone 2 is one FPS, that no FPS player wants to miss. Mark my words on that.

Says this, then goes on about all the fanboy proclaimed great games.

Regardless, he says he pretty much only plays shooters....

The 360 has the same variety of genres if he is ever inclined to broaden his interests.  The rest regarding the games and Killzone 2 is all opinion.  If no FPS player wanted to miss it, then why have so few PS3 owners purchased it?

Just saying that you said you weren't going to get into fanboy garbage, but based most of your response on your personal opinion, which tends to be what fanboys do.  Definitely not saying you are one.

This is a thread is bound to have personal opinions.  Just like your opinion is he shouldn't buy one.  I think that he should.  He works a full time job.  From talking with him before, he doesn't have monetary issues.  Sure he has limited gaming time, but the PS3 will have fine games to offer him in the areas he is looking for.

Yep I have.  Nothing innovative.  Sure it was a fun new story and worth a purchase, but I wouldn't have died had I missed out on it.

It was the best FPS (IMO) this gen not named Gears of War, Halo, or Call of Duty. I actually prefer it to all of those (With the possible exception of Gears of War) but people would be up in arms about my opinion .

Oh but it does to quite some degree.  Im not saying that bad sales = bad quality, but if your game doesn't have overwhelming appeal and excelent opinions it won't sell well....  What could be the reason for KZ2's lack of sales, I wonder....

Or advertising on Mountain Dew cans, or having a successful predecessor,  or having a console base that historically doesn't purchase shooters in near the same quantities as others.

A game doesn't have to sell well to enjoy it.   Little Big Planet is easily one of my favorite games this generation and I absolutely think it kicks the pants out of Wii Sports or Wii Fit or Halo 3.  You certainly couldn't tell by the sales though.

Sales really only paint one biased side of the picture.
