I personally think Microsoft sees little need to keep Mistwalker around. They formed their relationship with Mistwalker specifically to give the 360 an advantage in Japan, but they didn't really do much. Square Enix and Namco have come along to pick up the slack, and Tales of Vesperia and Star Ocean 4 have done far more for the 360 in Japan than either of Mistwalker's titles. I think we might see a Lost Odyssey 2 at TGS, but if we don't, I'd consider their relationship to be over for the time being. |
That's the way I feel too. I'm really hoping Cry On comes to form some day. Maybe Sakaguchi will forgive Sony that Kutaragi is not part of it, or they will make it for a Nintendo console. The premise around it sounded so awsome.
If there is nothing from MS by TGS for the jRPG genre in Japan, then I'm expecting them to not be trying so much anymore.
"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY." --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials
