Yeah. I've had my PS3 for almost a year and I leave it on for sometimes 10 hours at a time. It works like it's brand new. Better than new, in fact, considering my firmware upgrades. Frankly, if something I used all the time needed a three year extended warranty, I wouldn't buy it.
