Waiting till 21 doesn't really prove anything.  If you wait that long and you can finally do it; you could still drink irresponsibly.  Did your parents have to wait till 21?  Probably not considering the drinking age was probably 18 when they were young.  I know plenty of people that did not smoke or drink till around their early 20s and they turned out pretty bad.  I know a guy that had never smoked weed till 18 and he turned into a pill dealer and hydro dealer getting busted numerous times.  So basically waiting proves nothing.  Sure you shouldn't be getting drunk all the time when you are in your teens but having a few beers every so often is perfectly fine.
