Again, I do hope Sony does cut the price and push it like crazy. We'll see.

I totally agree but i believe it has more to do with the reason that when they launched at that price point of $500 and $600 and with a loss of over $250, they were not having many options.

People didn't buy, they had to reduce the price much earlier in the lifecycle of the console. Their past policies of not buying exclusives also costed them, and i think advertising much for the $500 console wasn't going to have any tangible advantage or improving the balance sheet. It was only going to increase their losses. 

But once the price comes down to $300 and they stop bleeding money, then advertisement is going to give them sales and better ROI.  and they will have more options to spend their extra cash.
