1) Makes my life easier 
2) I never said anything about its ability to "show off the PS3 capabilities". It happens to do so quite well, but that's not why I love it.
However, without some form of motion control I highly doubt it would achieve a similar level of immersion, which was one of the main reasons the game was so incredible.
