If they are talking about dropping maps, its probably memory related. Some maps are just too large, allow to many players, use too many textures (etc). Don't forget the PS3 has ONLY 256MB of system RAM (minus what the OS uses) + texture RAM. If you tried to run this on a PC with only 512MB (+ extra for OS) the game would laugh at you. ... So I wouldn't worry too much - just possible that there are some insanely detailed maps, and they don't fit in RAM. You do wonder about hard-disk use though - and using virtual memory on the PS3?? (the problem is likely to also be present on the 360 - and possibly worse)

I don't follow your reasoning... You say that the problem is likely memory related, and then you say it probably also happens on the 360, and "possibly worse"? The 360 allows for using more RAM than the PS3, and its OS uses less memory too...
