Yeah the battle system seems to be a mix between Old School turn based battles and a mix of FFXII's battle system. I love the way the direction is going and I can feel comfortable if the battle systems of future Final Fantasy's follow suit.
However XII's battle system is still horrid and the only thing I liked about it were No random encounters and thats it.
