Well, I mean, to me the cinematography is very important in most films, right up there with those things you mentioned, so to me those movies would be totally worth it. But I see your point.
I guess the best you could do would be to just get movies that you don't own on DVD. Then you wouldn't have to justify the purchase to yourself. And if you like animations, there are some very good ones that look very impressive on Blu-Ray. I own Wall-E, Ratatoiulle, The Corpse Bride and can vouch for all of them.
