Not necessarily.  JRPG is not even an official acronym.  The J is just used to tell us that that specific RPG was developed in Japan.

 

I cant agree with that. They are not called jRPGs because they are made in Japan. We dont call european RPGs 'eRPGs' you know? (and Europe makes a lot of them) European RPGs are considered a part of wRPGs because they are similar (identical) in style.

   jRPGs are totally different in style, gameplay and everything. 'j' in the name describes that, not just suggests which country the game is from.

 

The problem is that in japan RPG are constantly being reinvented....Like Valkiria Chronicles... That's a JRPG but it's a Stratergy RPG that play's turned Based but then is a real time shooter (Only played the first 30 mins My lil brother is a dick about his ps3...)
