Which Gaming Franchise Has the Largest Core Fanbase?

Pokemon main games dominate but the console ones sell pretty bad in comparison. However, FFT sold 2.5 million and Crisis Core is over 2 million.

So the spin offs and not entirely real FFs have still sold well.

Although a nice point, a main Pokemon game will sell well over 10 million without fail.  And even the spinoffs can sell awesome.  Although the console games have never did amazing Pokemon Stadium and Snap on n64 did quite well.  And then Pokemon Colliseum on GC did 2.5 million.  Even the Wii game PBR, did over a million, and that wasn't even much of a game haha.  Now that's some customer loyalty.  Although if I could think of a series that might contend it, it would be Final Fantasy.
