Macs do work out of the box.
So does any PC.
But with OEM PCs, typically the smartest thing to do is reformat the drive and do a clean install of Windows to delete the bloatware/adware most PCs ship with.
Some of it's actually pretty useful, but most of it isn't. Some of it actually chokes down network connections to the point of being unusable (kasperkey is often the culprit).
