What I find the funniest about this thread. Is that there are very few 'Americans' in here discussing this. Mostly Europeans from smaller countries that rely on 'Daddy' to take care of their needs.

That's what I find funny about this thread.

Don't put that on nationality my friend.. we are reacting as (civilized) human.

Civilized humans living under a protective umbrella of stronger nations who give you the right to have the attitude that you do.

Then come into EU a bit. You will see that we do have a lot of US military cemeteries and monuments dedicated to WW2.IT makes people thing twice before starting a war...

BTW my grand-father lived under german occupation and my aunt saw her parents executed by the gestapo when she was a young girl so ..... so sh..th..f...u with your BS !

(going to be banned for that but I feel better !)

Sorry to hear about your Grand-father and Aunt.   That's exactly the point though.  Protecting your citizens comes first, not second.  And you can make all the claims you want about trying to keep the peace and living in this perfect world.  Well guess what?  This world isn't perfect and without the bigger brothers in Europe and the USA,  a small country like Belgium would be pummeled under someone else who disagrees with the way you live life.

But that is not the point ! You can't use that argument to do such thing.

Of course, horrible things happen in the battlefield, but seeing that US officials autorize such methods on ... possibly innoncent people is absolutly wrong, not matter what you say.

What about the non-innocent people?  This article is about only innocent people.   What about the 3,000 + innocent people that died in the Twin Towers?  I think I could say with a certain degree of certainty that more people died in that Terrorist attack than have been tortured recently (and have been innocent).

My point is that, what you are writing here, is not better than the Bush'Administration propaganda. 8 Years when USA has lost credibility and support around the world... but that is ok, it is done now....

But don't talk about europeans like he did... he is probably the worth president the US ever had...

My point is,  A good percentage of Europe is left wing and liberal.   Many countries are this way because they have no reason to be anything else.  They are protected.  Some terrorist might want to attack Belgium.  But guess where they really want to attack?  The big guy.

The dynamic that most in this discussion are missing is the fact that we aren't dealing with simple old styled factions of people here.  We are dealing with an enemy that essentially isn't "supported" by any government or governing body.  An enemy that will use whatever means necessary to get it's way.   I remember a few years back how many of these Terrorists were threatening countries (Maybe it even was Belgium) to remove their troops from Iraq or suffer the consequences.

People that kill innocent people,  don't deserve luxury treatment.  Period.
