Eventhough it is really impossible for ps3 to catch up xbox sales in the near future but what if it really happened someday...
My opinion:
1) ps3 will never catch up xbox360 due to piracy unless ps3 is hackable one day... Must remember xbox360 sales contribution also coming from other regions especially asia..
2) For the long run ps3 software will give 100% profit to the developer as if ps3 maintain it's original exist...
3) xbox 360 will promise profit to microsoft if they just leave the pirate take over on the hardware...
