I'm just curious, do some of you really believe that splitting things up into regions changes worldwide popularity? Not so much in the Halo 3 vs. GT5 sense, but lets say that Game A sells 6 million copies in NA, and 0 in Others + Japan. Game B, on the other hand, sells 1 million copies in NA, 1 million in Others and 1 million in Japan. Does Game B suddenly become more popular worldwide even though it sold half of Game A? I don't believe so. We're talking worldwide numbers here. I don't care what the regional breakdown is in these arguments, is one more popular than other worldwide or not? My point of view is that it doesn't matter if Game B sold in a more balanced manner worldwide, it still only sold half of Game A, thus Game A is more popular.

Nice observation, didn't think of it that way, plus halo in general is just more well known ww, simple as that.

Which as I have told you....Is a very American centric .... High schooler from Minnesota closed view point.

The world is a very large place.  You might be extremely shocked to know that in Japan Halo is nothing and in many other places in the world Halo is nothing.

World-Wide Gran Turismo is more popular.   The highest selling Halo isn't even close to the highest selling Gran Turismo.   No 'main' Gran Turismo game has sold under 9 million copies.  There have been more Gran Turismo game released in general.  If you break each game down by number of years on the market,  Gran Turismo has sold more game copies per year.

And as Dianko said,  What are the total gross numbers?   Total gross numbers are clearly in favor of GT5.   (Which is around the 14th bes t selling franchise of all time).

Halo is a good game with tons of sales and wonderful marketing (Especially in America).  It's not the household name you believe it to be in other parts of the world.

Silly foreigner, your argument is moot. I don't care where the game sold the best and neither should you because it doesn't matter, world wide sales are a only real number worth looking at, and the Halo franchise this gen wins. Period. We are, after all, still talking about Halo 3 vs. GT5 right? I don't care what the sales numbers were for past gen consels as user base was highly skewed in favor of the PS2, also the fact that it has no relevancy to this thread. Oh and your egotistical "American's are trash and think only of themselves" attitude is so tipicall of the "holier than thou" thought process found in those across the pond. Get over it, America = pwn...although that is set to change (unfortunately)
