Ah shit. Damn british, ruining our reputation! Oh well, still before NATO, UN and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights were established, which the US has been operating under the past 50-60 years. |
Well, it's easy to be moral when you aren't involved in a war. I'm sure Denmark was the pinnacle of morality in Europe, so abhored by the thought of war they surrendered to Hitler after only two hours.
But sometimes you can't rely on other to save you, and you have to make the tough decisions to save yourself that you clearly can not.
Yet, today, America's leaders are reenacting every folly that brought these great powers [Russia, Germany, and Japan] to ruin -- from arrogance and hubris, to assertions of global hegemony, to imperial overstretch, to trumpeting new 'crusades,' to handing out war guarantees to regions and countries where Americans have never fought before. We are piling up the kind of commitments that produced the greatest disasters of the twentieth century.
