Actually, we were both hopeful after that conversation, too. BUT... he got called back shortly after on his cell phone, and the Sony rep told him the same thing they told him yesterday - he's screwed. He's getting a new-model 80GB PS3 tomorrow (that's the scheduled arrival at Sony Style local outlet), and they wouldn't even tell him a reason WHY they can't send a refurb old-model 80GB PS3 from MTC instead - they just refused. It's even more confusing to me, now... I don't understand. In any case, he's losing out pretty majorly, and he's decided he's just going to "bend over and take it" as he says. I think it's pretty sad, overall, especially that Sony Canada rep who gave us the false hope. But then, that isn't likely his fault - he probably just assumed there's no reason why they couldn't send him one of the refurbs from MTC, since they told me that they have a lot of them. |
If true, the normal procedure then is to write a letter to the store detailing all the events and demand a satisfactory solution and written response in a timely fashion.
Considering everything, the store is in a very weak position legally. So, it's most likely they will comply. If not he seems to have a solid legal case.
If there really was is no option for the store to comply (meaning the provided repair center information was wrong), then they still have to provide satisfactory alternatives as stated in my earlier comment.
