Max King of the Wild said: ^ starcraft, mrstickball, and friends claimed NA would make up for the lost japanese sales. their reasonings were because SO is bigger in NA than Japan and that majority of 360s user base was in NA... they were wrong.
Also its a pretty damn good analogy considering that SO is the only PS2 exclusive game to turn into a 360 exclusive i believe. meaning that that is the only game we can compare a sales trend to... which isnt very good for 360 mgs4 more than ps3 mgs4 arguement |
Don't try and cover you terrible and inaccurate analogy by re-interpreting what other people have said.
For reference, here is a post of mine regarding SO4 written prior to my post in this thread.
SO4 is a Japanese Role Playing game. Some would call MGS4 a stealth game (for which there are decent selling precedents on the Xbox 360), others would more accurately call the latest MGS installment a shooter. The only shooters on the Xbox 360 that had comparable hype too MGS4 are Gears (less hype) and Halo (more hype).
If you would like too see how those games did, I think you'd find you're downplaying the ability of the Xbox 360 too shift hyped shooters.

That's some mighty fine cherry picking there. Ignore the vast majority of my post.
But let's examine your info. What it shoes us is that with the exception of a few spikes, MGS had a similar level of news hits too Gears of War. But it's also important to note that many of the hits Gears of War received would have been for the first title that wasnt released too long ago. MGS on the other hand, would have been almost exclusively MGS4 hits, as the last title was released in 2004.
Even more telling is that in the regions where the PS3 is the strongest MGS outdid Gears for hits. Imagine if the gamer had been an Xbox 360 exclusive, what the gauges would have looked like given the console has over double the userbase in the Americas.
