When I got my launch PS3 fixed (dead bluray laser), I constantly asked to make sure that I would atleast get a BC enabled model with all the card readers and they assured that I would. In the end, they sent me back my fixed 60gb just fine. I always wondered what would happen if they couldn't fix it for some reason since BC PS3s had been discontinued.
