Thatmax said: This video is a huge thing here in the UK at the moment. It shows a newspaper seller just walking home through the riots before he is wacked in the back of the knees with a baton and then pushed to the floor by the police. The man suffered a fatal heart attack just minutes later.
It may not have been an incredibly aggressive act but any violent overreactions by the police on protestors will anger the crowd meaning that the police have to be even tougher to keep them under control, but this will just increase tension thus a potential riot.
Bloody Sunday comes to mind. |
Really? I mean looking at him he's clearly not just walking home and trying to get in the polices way. Look at the video again. He swerves left and right to get in the polices way. It would of been an easy thing to stand to the side for a couple seconds when he was told to move so the bomb dogs could go by and search for bombs.

He wasn't part of the protest. He was just walking home from work. He wasn't being aggressive. He has every right to walk there.

Did you watch the video? I mean watch it again. Note how he makes a direct right angle turn for no reason other then to get in the cops way.
He's walking along straiht... then makes a sharp turn for little reason and the cop pushes him to try to get him out of the bomb squads way.

I have watched the video plenty of times and all I can see is Ian walking away from the police with his back to the police and his hands in his pockets. Posing no threat at all. Why are you justifying police voilence on an innocent person. The batton strike and push is almost certainly the cause of Ian's death. The policeman should be tried in court like any other citizen would be.

He's walking away very very slowly.... and he's moving in a way to slow down the police on purpose. Also all I saw was a push. Not a baton strike.
Stopping the police from removing bombs by impeding there travel i wouldn't call "doing nothing."
He distinctly cuts very closley infront of them soley for the purpose of slowing them down. It's like when your driving, and don't like the person behind you who is trying to pass, so you move with them blocking there way so they can't pass you.
Except instead of trying to get somewhere... the guy is looking for bombs.
