Well, still not comparable with the 3 million copies of FFVII sold in less than 48 hours in Japan in 1997, but close enough.

get your facts right, 2.3 million in the first 3 days

You get yours straight, how old were you in 1997 anyway ? 10 or something ? So don't lecture me.

It sold close to 2.8 million in about 48 hours, more than 3.5 million in it's first month of sales in Japan. And sold 1.3 million copies more that year.

Though launch day in the US was in September, the 1 million mark was only reached by the end of the year.

Europe launch was in mid-November and sales reached  500K.

So the game sold over 6 million copies in 1997 alone, mostly in Japan. And in case you're wondering, there were only about 25 millions Playstationers worlwide at that time.

I'd like to see a link about that. Nice job insulting the guys age without providing proof of your own BTW. This is all I could find on Google:

"Square releases the Final Fantasy VII video game for the PlayStation in Japan. (Two million copies sell in the first three-day weekend. Total worldwide sales over its lifetime: 8.6 million.) [556.99] [591.24] [630.62]"

http://www.islandnet.com/~kpolsson/vidgame/vid1997.htm

From Wikipedia:

"Within three days of its January 1997 release in Japan, the game had sold 2.3 million copies."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Final_Fantasy_VII

And you also wrote that it sold 3m copies in 48 hours... Which I find extraordinary because FFVII launched in January 1997 yet this site has it listed at only 3.2m copies sold for the entire year.

Even VGChartz itself has lifetime FFVII Japanese sales at a little under 4m lifetime yet you claim it sold 3.5m the first month.

Research, indeed. I'd be a little more careful around here before mocking someone about their age or research done on a game's sales.
