Takes me back to the days of early SRPGs...

where you had no side leveling... and stuff was impossible.

Not only did you have to use strategy, but you had to make sure the right units leveled up.  Otherwise you might end up in another stage latter on and find out you don't have strong enough heavy artillery to take down the boss... or quick enough units to save other people.

You would string the boss along at low hitpoints distracting him so you could kill off every unit to maximize EXP.

All while on a turn limit.

Tie that with a fanatical will to not even let a level 1 guy die....

Ah good times.
