Yea, I have a German car, and it's never once had an issue. I drive the shit out of it too (was up to 135 on the way home last night :p). I also have a GM truck, the 4WD and the transmission have both failed. The Porsche is one year older as well (2000 @56K miles, the truck is 2001@ 55K miles).
As for the truck, I love it. I have a heavy boat, and do not trust a foreign truck to pull it (the Nissan is nice, but still not build well enough for towing). So the truck is the best for the task, just not the most reliable.
