Halo 3 was so frontloaded that there's no way GT5 will even look like it can outsell Halo 3 for quite a while, because it can't measure up to those first few weeks Halo 3 had.

I can agree with this mostly. I highly doubt GT5 is going to be as front loaded as Halo 3 was. Regardless, looking at the series I don't know how an objective person CAN'T come to the conslusion that a full Gran Turismo game won't sell well. I mean the lowest Gran Turismo game in the series (Counting only full versions) sold 9.37 million copies.
And again, that was the 2nd Gran Turismo on the same system. A trend that has occurred throughout the Gran Turismo series.
To put it simply, if Gran Turismo doesn't sell 9,000,000 + copies it will be a first for the series. Smart money says bet on Gran Turismo 5 (Especially if they add crash damage, etc) selling on 9,000,000 + copies.
Gran Turismo (Original) only sold around 4 million in America and went on to sell around 10.5 Lifetime. Which I think is certainly reasonable to acquire this gen.
