Whats funny is that the 'main' reason why GT3 sold well, was because of US sales. US accounted for 9 millions sales. For both GT3 and GT4 others and japan were almost exactly the same in sales, but the sales of GT4 were not even 3 million in the US, and this on a console that had/has a user base of 50 million inthe US.

The only real comparison we have is the comparison of GT4 with Halo 3. Both games are currently available, and the sales of Halo 3 are almost the same as GT4 (and without much doubt will pass GT4 before year end). GT4 did outsell Halo2, but barely, with 4 times the userbase. Thus looking at numbers alone, Halo 3 is/will be more popular than GT4. GT5 will NEVER outsell Halo3 and thus NEVER be more popular than Halo3. Forget regional distribution, because total sales = world sales, and that is all that matters (when looking at overall popularity). You would need an attach rate of >50% on the PS3 to outsell Halo3, and that is just not going to happen. Even when a console has a user base of >100 million (PS2), it still is was not able to outsell Halo 3.

This is not a knock on GT5, but the reality is that the US accounts for the most software sold (just look at regional attach rates for every console, and look at the distribution of software sales for the GT5:P), and because the user base in the US is proportianately low for the PS3, it will not sell as well as previous versions.

How do you know that, oh I forgot about time travel, can you lend me your machine? I wanna go see that.
