Hey it's not a stupid idea to have a big switch that shuts off the interent.  It's a smart idea.  Assuming you plan to take over the country and want to disrupt the most useful form of communication for people that would be against you taking over their country.

 

This, my friends, is what I am afraid of. Too many things coming to a head... I don't like the smell of the air here, it is becoming foul with the stench of an Onerous Government.

It's really the only thing i can think of... I mean I can't even imagine what they would consider a good reason to shut down the internet.

I mean.  Big disaster.  Do we really want to cut down one of the biggest lines of communication?  I mean hell lots of people contact only through the interent now.  Shut down the internet and you cut off communication with those people who may or may not be dead.

Terrorist attack.  Ok.  The attack happened aready.  So... what's the use of shutting it down afterwords?  So they can't brag?  The internet is a big terrorist and extremist gathering spot, but shutting it down in a reactionary way makes no sense.

People hacking into our grids and shutting stuff off... can't we just specifically disconnect those sysetms from the grids... from the places manually.  Call them up and say "Hey your stuff is about to go down, unplug you interenet."

It seems really unneeded.
