The problem with the pirates is actually in Land, getting rid of their ships wont change anything since they can buy new ones. It would require quite a large operation to eliminate their inland bases.

Somalia as a country is in chaos, chaos which once caused america to enter and we all know how it ended, so i really dont know how america can react, either with full force or maybe increase the number of patrols. (The ocean near aden gulf and somalia are arleady patroled by NATO and the EU)

Yeah, Pakistan had to help out America. :)

what I cannot understand is; why can't some of the world's most advanced navies catch these pirates though they have satellite imaging and other such tracking methods?

Well there is simply one problem. Its the amount of traffic in that Region, this is possibly one of the busiest places in sea transport in the world, with thousands of ships everyday passing somalian coast. Also it is the size of that coast and NATO/EU have only limited number of vessels available in that region, and they cannot cound on Somalian help when this country is in so much chaos,  and pirates can basically struck everywhere.
